In Greek mythology, Alkioni was the wife of Cyeka and daughter of Aeolus. One day, Kykkas went for fishing, but strong winds sank his ship. When Alkioni saw the ship sinking fell off a rock and killed herself. Because their love was too strong, gods transformed them into birds, the known alcinones. Due to the fact that fish bear their eggs in nests in January, Zeus allowed the sun to shine really strong in order to heat the eggs until they get incubated. These really hot days of January are called Alkyonides days for this reason.

“Alkyone’s” apartment is located in the guesthouse’s garden, where it is his entrance. “Alkyone” is adjacent to the other apartments and framed by an open garden.

It is a 45m2 apartment, which two rooms are connected through an internal “Π” shaped wooden staircase. On the ground floor there are two distinct spaces, the living room, which includes a two-seater sofa bed, the fireplace for the cold winter nights and the kitchen.

Upstairs there is a double guest bed, a bathroom and a 40-inch TV. In addition, a safe box is provided for the above-mentioned apartment, both for the storage of personal items and for the placement of guests’ money. An extra bed can be added to the “Alkioni” on the ground floor, which means that it can accommodate up to 4 people, while a playpen can be added to it, too.
